Douglas Leroy Thompson

Douglas Leroy Thompson, age 78, of Elizabethtown, KY, passed away Monday, May 15, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was a retired P.E. teacher from Hart County, co-owner of Thompson Trucking and attended Calvary Baptist Church. After retirement, he spent much of his time enjoying the outdoors on a golf course where he perfected his game.

He was the son of the late Armond Thompson and the late Mabel Cottrell Thompson. He is also preceded in death by a son, Stacy Len Thompson and two sisters, Linda Wilkerson and Brenda Martin.

He is survived by his wife and best friend of 58 years, Linda Thompson; three daughters, Amy Mathews (Landon), Bardstown, KY, Marci Kauffeld (Jerry), Elizabethtown, KY, Erina Duvall (Brant), Leitchfield, KY; one son, Anthony Thompson (Kara), North Port, FL; nine grandchildren, Chelsea, Ryne, Connor, Natalie, Lauren, Josie, Brendan, Kenzie, Maddie; four great grandchildren, Reid, Emma, Jack, Mallory; three sisters, Martha Smith (Charles), Mammoth Cave, KY, Patricia Cowan, Louisville, KY, Vanessa Thompson, Cub Run, KY; two brothers, Ralph Thompson (Kaye), Cub Run, KY, Kelly Thompson, Jeffersonville, IN.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM CT on Wednesday, May17, 2023 and from 8:00 AM-11:00 AM CT on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Brooks Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM CT Thursday, May 18, 2023 at Brooks Funeral Home. Interment will be at Memory Park Cemetery, Bonnieville, KY.

In honor of Doug's memory, golf attire is encouraged but not required.
