Willie Q. Thompson

Willie Q. Thompson was born on May 16, 1938 in Canmer, Kentucky, to the late Quinn Thompson and Amanda Barbour Thompson. He transitioned from this life on Wednesday, July 3, 2024.

 He gave his heart to Jesus Christ at an early age at Mt. Gilboa Baptist Church. He was one of God's songbirds. He served as a Trustee, a Deacon, and a Sunday School Superintendent. Be thou faithful unto death and God will give you a crown of life.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Quinn and Amanda Barbour Thompson; his daughter, Jocelyn R. Shaw; five Sisters, Phyllis Thompson, Myrtle Stewart, Doretha Brewer, Geraldine Dixon and Joyce Thompson; three brothers, Daniel Thompson, Donald Thompson and Wendell Thompson.

 He leaves to mourn his passing his beloved wife of 44 years and 10 months, Mary Waggoner Thompson; one son, Rev. Langston D. Payton (Emily); four grandsons, Marcus Sherlock, Langsley Shaw (Olivia), Quinn Shaw and Aubrien Wallace; five granddaughters, Teairra Payton, Morgan Cortes, Brianna Payton, Markaythia Thompson and Annie Wallace; three great-granddaughters, Zoe Jackson, Talani Brown and E. Cortes. Also a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends survive.  

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM CT on Friday, July 5, 2024 at Mt. Gilboa Cemetery with Rev. Langston Payton and Rev. Douglas Barboour officiating. Burial will follow there. Brooks Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
