Willie J. "Mac" Deats, age 81, of Macclenny, FL (Formerly of Louisville, KY) passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2007, at Shands Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL. The Jefferson County native was born April 8, 1926. He was a retired employee with the Housing Authority of Louisville. Mr. Deats was a member of Thixton Lane Baptist Church in Louisville, KY, a member of the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels, and a Past Master with the Abraham Lodge #8 F & AM in Louisville, KY.
He was the son of the late Willie Deats and the late Alda (Milby) Deats.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn (Brooks) Deats of Macclenny, FL; One Daughter: Linda Rousseau of Jacksonville, FL; One Grandson: John R. Rousseau of Jacksonville, FL; Two Brothers-In Law: Jerry Brooks of Munfordville, KY; and Joe Brooks of New Cumberland, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons: William Charles and Russell Warren Deats.
Masonic rites will be conducted at the funeral home on Thursday, May 3, 2007 at 7:00 PM CDT.
Arrangements are being handled by Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville, KY where the family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM CDT Thursday, May 3, 2007 and from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM CDT Friday, May 4, 2007. Funeral service will be at Brooks Funeral Home at 10:00 AM CDT Friday, May 4, 2007 with Pastor Shane Browning officiating. Interment will be at Resthaven Memorial Park in Louisville, KY.
