Wanda Kay Poynter

Wanda Kay Groce Poynter, age 68, of Horse Cave, KY, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2016, at her residence in Horse Cave, KY. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist Faith. She was the daughter of the late Caleb Powers Groce and the late Virginia Lee Groce Stinson and wife of the late Leroy Poynter.
She is survived by one daughter, Virginia Sturgeon and husband Danny, Horse Cave, KY; three grandsons, A. J. Sturgeon, Jeffrey L. Sturgeon, Andy Sturgeon; two great grandchildren, Kynlee Faith Sturgeon, Lucas Tyler Sturgeon; one sister, Bonnie Merideth and her husband Kenneth, Horse Cave, KY; four brothers, Rev. Caleb Groce and his wife Joyce, Louisville, KY, James Groce and his wife Flo, Newburg, NY, Roy Groce and his wife Becky, Horse Cave, KY, Charles "Buck" Groce, Horse Cave,KY; one step sister, Juanita Haire, Horse Cave; two caregivers, Lee Smith and Paula Groce. Besides her parents, husband and several brothers and sisters, she was preceded in death by a daughter Doris Jean Jaggers and two great grandsons, Colton Thomas Sturgeon and Wyatt Kade Sturgeon.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM CT, Monday, May 16, 2016 and from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM CT, Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Brooks Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2:00 PM CT, Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at Brooks Funeral Home with Bro. Bobby Neal officiating. Interment will be at Horse Cave Cemetery, Horse Cave, KY.
