Sarah B. Thornton

Sarah B. Thornton, age 90, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2008 in Detroit, Michigan. The Hart County native was born on November 19, 1917. She attended Kentucky State College and touched many lives as a teacher in one-room schools at Knob School in Hammonsville, Little Blue Springs, & Halltown. Ms. Thornton was currently a member of Second Ebenezor Baptist Church in Detroit. She was the daughter of the late Ben Bradley and the late Mary Bradley. She was married to the late Howard Thornton. She is survived by One Daughter: Dr. Brenda (Thornton) Smith of Detroit, MI; One Brother: Benny Bradley (Sarah) of Hardyville, KY; One Sister-In-Law: Edna Bradley of Hardyville, KY. She is also survived by one granddaughter: Shavonne; & several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters: Nellie B., Birdie, Mildred, Iva Mae, Gracie Jean; & two brothers: Franklin and Abner Madison. Arrangements are being handled by Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville, KY. The family will receive friends at Woodsonville Baptist Church from 10:00 AM to time of service Saturday, May 17, 2008. Funeral service will be at the church at 1:00 PM CT Saturday, May 17, 2008 with Rev. Thomas O. Wood and Rev. K. T. Ford officiating. Interment will be at Woodsonville Memorial Gardens in Munfordville, KY.
