Rev. Timothy S. Chamberlain, age 87, of Nashville, TN, (Formerly of Munfordville) passed away Friday, May 1, 2009, at his residence in Nashville, TN. The Barren County native was born on August 11, 1921 and he served in the US Navy during World War II. He was a farmer and in his early 30's he began a new chapter of his life as a faithful clergyman for 34 years. Rev. Chamberlain was a member of the KY United Methodist Conference. He received his Associates Degree from Lindsey Wilson, Columbia, KY; Bachelor's Degree in English, Austin Peay State University; & Master's of Divinity Degree, Vanderbilt University.
His faith led him to many churches including: Columbia Circuit, Columbia, KY; Allensville, KY, Stevenson Chapel, Logan County; Parkway United Methodist & St. Peter United Methodist Church, both in Louisville, KY; State Street United Methodist Church, Bowling Green, KY; Russell Springs United Methodist Church, Russell Springs, KY; & Longview United Methodist Church, Hardin County, KY; Kenwood United Methodist & Cooper Chapel United Methodist where he retired in Louisville, KY.
Rev. Chamberlain attended Munfordville United Methodist Church and filled in for various churches in the region after his retirement.
He was the son of the late Mitchell Young Chamberlain and the late Lou (Kerley) Chamberlain.
He is survived by his wife; Doris (Cox) Chamberlain, Nashville, TN; One Son: Mitchell Edward Chamberlain (Bettye), Nashville, TN; Two Grandchildren: Russell Chamberlain (Inga), Seattle, WA & Erin Washler (Zach), Frankfort, IN. One Great-Grandson: Ian Chamberlain, Seattle, WA. One Sister: Alyce Preston, Park City, KY.
Arrangements are being handled by Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville, KY. The family will receive friends at Munfordville United Methodist Church at 12:00 PM CT until time of memorial service, Saturday, May 9, 2009. Memorial service will be at the church at 2:00 PM CT, Saturday, May 9, 2009 with Rev. Zach Washler and Rev. Rick Johnson officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Bowling Green, KY.
