Mattie Emma Austin

Mattie Emma Austin, age 84, of Hardyville, KY, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024, at Glenview Nursing Home in Glasgow, KY. She was a member of the Little Blue Springs Baptist Church. She was a former employee of Glasgow Goods and Carhartt, and she was a foster parent for many years.

She was the daughter of the late Theodore Rosevelt Payton and the late Mattie Wilson Payton.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Austin; nine brothers and sisters, Christine Cobb, Georgine Garnett, Junior Payton, Adelene Alexander, Maxine Brents, Herbert Payton, Cleon and Leon Payton, and Martha Payton. 

She is survived by her three sons, Earl Payton, Horse Cave, KY, Carl Payton and his wife Barbara, Bowling Green, KY, Michael Austin and his wife Audery, Corydon, IN; six grandchildren, Tara Earthman (Taquan), Clarissa Payton, Timothy Payton (Taylor), Nikita Austin, Daysha Austin, Mia Austin; four great-grandchildren, Teralan, Ja`Mayia, Kari, and Teagan; a host of nieces nephews and cousins also survive.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM- 1:00 PM CTon Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Brooks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM CT on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at Brooks Funeral Home. Burial will be at Bearwallow Baptist Church Cemetery.
