Leroy Poynter, age 74, of Horse Cave, KY, passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at Hosparus Inpatient Care Center in Louisville, KY. He was formerly employed by Glenwood Short and was a member of Baptist Faith.
He was the son of the late Chester Poynter and the late Lillie Mae Doyle Poynter.
He is survived by his wife: Wanda Poynter; one sister: Geraldine Roller, Three Springs, KY; one brother: James Poynter, Horse Cave, KY; one step daughter: Virginia Sturgeon, Munfordville, KY; three step-grandchildren: A.J. Sturgeon, Jeffery Sturgeon, Andy Sturgeon; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Poynter.
Arrangements are being handled by Brooks Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Thursday, January 20, 2011 and from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Friday, January 21, 2011. Funeral service will be at Brooks Funeral Home at 1:00 PM, Friday, January 21, 2011, Bro. Caleb Groce officiating. Interment will be at Cave City Cemetery, Cave City, KY.
