Leon Payton

Leon Payton, age 75 of Campbellsville, passed away, Monday, June 5, 2023 at his daughter's home in Bowling Green. He was a member of Little Blue Springs Baptist Church. In his younger days he worked on cars and did construction and worked on a farm. Later on he got enjoyment out of watching basketball games and spending time with his grandkids. He is the son of the late Theodore Rosevelt Payton and Mattie Wilson Payton.

He is preceded in death by his five sisters, Martha Payton, Georgina Garnett, Adelene Alexander, and Christine Cobb, Maxine Brents; three brothers, Theodore Payton Jr., Herbert Payton, and Cleon Payton.

He is survived by his children, Lisa Howard, Bowling Green, KY, Bryant Howard, Bowling Green, KY, and Josh Barbour, Campbellsville; eight grandchildren, Shawanda Payton, Salissa Payton, Asia Barbour, Kambree Barbour, Brandon Payton, Rodricus Payton, Sebastian Howard, and Savyon Howard; great-grandchildren, Colcyne Brinkley, Kyree Howard, Nalah Howard, and Sky'y Howard. one sister, Mattie Austin, Hardyville; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. The immediate family would like to acknowledge our mother, Wanda Murrell, for helping us in the care of our father.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM CT on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Brooks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM CT on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Brooks Funeral Home with Rev. K.T. Ford and Rev. Stanford Dixon officiating, Burial will follow at Bear Wallow Cemetery.
