Gertie Esther Hawkins, age 96, of Cub Run, KY, passed Wednesday, March 6, 2013, at Caverna Memorial Hospital in Horse Cave, KY. She was a member of the Cherry Springs Missionary Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Jesse Buster and the late Mary Blair Buster and the wife of the late William Clarence Hawkins.
She is survived by five daughters: Elizabeth Bishop, Elizabethtown, KY;
Frances Glass, Cozetta Buster, Kathy McFarland and her husband Barry all of Munfordville, KY; Kay Gore, Caneyville, KY; one son: Samuel Hawkins and his wife Veronica, Upton, KY; one sister: Jessie Sheldon, Salem, OR; 44 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and numerous great great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William Clarence Hawkins; six children: Charlene Taylor, Aloma McDowell, J.W. Hawkins, Lucy Meredith, Damon Hawkins, Rowvena Grass; three brothers and 4 sisters.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, March 8, 2013, from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Brooks Funeral Home and from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Cherry Springs Baptist Church in Cub Run. Funeral service will be 1:30 PM, Sunday, March 10, 2013 at Cherry Springs Baptist Church with Bro. Paul Hawkins officiating. Burial will be at Cherry Springs Cemetery, Cub Run, KY.
