Eugene Robert "Gene Dawdy" Van Garsel, age 83, of Munfordville, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, March 18,2024 at Baptist Health Hardin in Elizabethtown, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents the late Peter and Margaret Jeschike Van Garsel; one daughter, Margaret Summey; three brothers Art, Robert, and Ronald Van Garsel and one sister Dolores Yelvington.

"Gene Dawdy" is survived by wife of 35 years, Betty Van Garsel; one son, Peter Van Garsel , of North Carolina; One daughter, Bonnie Cocchi (Jeff) of Georgia: one step-daughter Sherri Kellog (Tim) of Georgia; one sister, JoAnn Bergeron (Jim) of Georgia. He is also survived by several Grandchildren, Great- Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, and many close friends he considered family.

The family will receive friends from 3:00-6:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Brooks Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Brooks Funeral Home with Bro. Paul Killman officiating. Cremation will follow.
