Edgar Carter, Sr., age 83, of Munfordville, KY passed away Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at his residence in Munfordville, KY. The Georgia native was born on November 14, 1922 and was a WWII veteran with the Air Force. He was employed by the Civil Service in Fort Knox as a bus driver for 33 years and was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church. He was also a member of the VFW post in Rowletts; He served on the Commission of Human Rights; Munfordville Fire Department; and on the Munfordville City Council for eight years.
He was the son of the late Charlie Carter and the late Leola (Hasley) Carter. He is survived by his wife Alice (Green) Carter; One Daughter: Charlotte McClellan (Matthew Sr.) of Radcliff, KY; Five Sons: Edgar Carter, Jr. (Judy) of Abingdon, VA; William C. Carter of Louisville, KY; Timothy R. Carter of Munfordville, KY; Mark D. Carter (Cynthia) of Simpsonville, SC; and Phillip Jeffery Carter of Walbridge, OH; Ninteen grandchildren; Seventeen great-grandchildren
Arrangements are being handled by Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville, KY where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM CDT Friday, October 13, 2006 and at Morning Star Baptist Church from 10:00 AM to service time Saturday, October 14, 2006. Funeral service will be at Morning Star Baptist Church at 1:00 PM CDT Saturday, October 14, 2006 with Rev. George Mitchell and Rev. Warner Fishback officiating. Interment will be at Morning Star Church Cemetery in Munfordville, KY. Military honors will be conducted at gravesite.
