Bro. John Lawrence "JL" Sturgeon

Bro. John Lawrence "JL" Sturgeon, age 84, of Mount Washington, formerly of Hart County, KY, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2013. at Green Meadows Healthcare Center in Mt. Washington, KY. J.L. was employed by Welders Supply as a truck driver,  a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and a member of Masonic Lodge #586 of Lebanon Junction.

He was the son of the late Buck Sturgeon and the late Cleota Highbaugh Sturgeon

He is survived by his wife, Jenrose Jones Sturgeon; three daughters, Linda Tazelaar, Mount Washington, KY, Vanessa Pierani and husband David, Mount Washington, KY, Christy Porter and husband Noah Nuckols, Hardyville, KY;  one son, Allen Sturgeon and wife Joyce, Brooks, KY; one sister, Sue Young and husband Kenneth, Hodgenville, KY;  13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Allen Sturgeon and Dan Sturgeon;  one sister,  Elizabeth Jones;  one son, John Lawrence "Larry" Sturgeon Jr.;  one grandson, Justin Cantrell.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM ET, Tuesday, October 1, 2013 and from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM ET, Wednesday, October 2, 2013 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Mt. Washington, KY.  Funeral service will be 11:00 AM ET, Wednesday, October 2, 2013, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Mt. Washington, KY with Bro. Wally Mantooth and Bro.  Rick Ralston officiating. Interment will be at Pearl Webb Cemetery, Canmer, KY
