On January 28, 2012, at 6:15 p.m. the sweet spirit of our dear sister, Bertha Mae Rogers, went to join the Savior in that home not built with hands, but whose maker and builder is God.
Bertha Mae Rogers was born on September 10, 1924, in Munfordville, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Abb Bradley and late Nancy Ellen Whitlow Bradley. In 1943, she married the late Albert Lewis Rogers. She was a loving mother to: Gilbert Roger Franklin (Deceased); Elizabeth Rogers West ; Noel Lewis Rogers, Sr. (Mina, deceased); Rosalind Rogers McGhee (Doug); Annette Lavender (Vic); Richard Adrian Rogers; Jonathan Rogers; and Vickie Rogers Armstrong.
She enjoyed visiting her brothers and sisters who preceded her in death: Freddy Bradley, Mary Florida Curry, Lucy Jane Garvin, Frances Lee Taylor, Richard Bradley, Abner Bradley, Hattie Rice, Grace Cobb, Emma Bradley, Elizabeth Walker, Ben Bradley, Will Bradley and Bud Bradley.
She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren (Two grandsons preceded her in death) Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sister Rogers was an exemplary Christian lady. She received her High School Equivalency Certificate from Elizabethtown Community College on May 4, 1984. She graduated from Simmons Bible College on May 19, 1986, with a major in Missions. She was past Sunday School Missionary President of the Liberty District Convention. She was past Historian for the Baptist Women's Missionary Convention. She was past President of Morning Star Missionary Sisters. She organized a Jr. Missionary Circle at Morning Star Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School from 1952 - 1993. She was Church Clerk at Morning Star Baptist Church from 1957 - 1996. She was a noted soloist who loved to sing the Lord's praises. She toured the Holy Land and was forever thankful for being able to visit the site of the first Lord's Supper. She was the president of Carter Dowling PTA at the time of integration. She was the author of three books based on her family's ancesters; Wonded But Not Broken, The Enduring Legacy and Reminders, Lest We Forget. She was a volunteer tutor for the Hart County Literacy Program. She was a faithful servant until death.
Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Thursday, February 2, 2012 and from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM, Friday, February 3, 2012 at Brooks Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM, Friday, February 3, 2012 at Woodsonville Baptist Church with Rev. Bradley Lewis and Rev. Warner Fishback officiating. Interment will be at Morning Star Cemetery, Munfordville, KY.
