Bertha Maxey, age 100, of Horse Cave, KY passed away at 9:05 AM CST Tuesday, January 30, 2007, at Caverna Memorial Hospital in Horse Cave, KY. The Hart county native was born on August 27, 1906 and was a homemaker. She was a member of Little Blue Springs Baptist Church.
She was the daughter of the late Al Payton and the late Emily (Thompson) Payton.
She is survived by her Two Daughters: Lois Maxey & Earnestine Dixon (Rev. Stanford Dixon) all of Horse Cave, KY; Daughter-In-Law: Christine Maxey of Indianapolis, IN; Three Sons: Roy Stanford Maxey, Carl Franklin Maxey (Pat), & Verlis Theodore Maxey all of Indianapolis, IN; Son-In-Law: Melvin Garnett of Horse Cave, KY; She is also survived by 30 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, & 25 great-great grandchildren; and a host of several nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband: Leroy Maxey; three daughters: Pauline Reed, Emily Bell Garnett, & Lena Naydell Embry; two sons: Henry Allen Maxey & Arthur Lee Maxey. She was also preceded in death by her 13 brothers and sisters.
Arrangements are being handled by Brooks Funeral Home, Munfordville, KY where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM CST Friday, February 2, 2007 and at Little Blue Springs Baptist Church from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM CST Saturday, February 3, 2007. Funeral service will be at Little Blue Springs Baptist Church at 1:00 PM CST Saturday, February 3, 2007 with Rev. Robert L. Brown and Rev. Charles Boards officiating. Interment will be at Bearwallow Cemetery in Horse Cave, KY.
